So what's a bigger insult to Mohammed?
some dumb movie, or the attempted murder of a 14 year old girl in his name,
i'm sure the protests or lack there of will reveal all.
Jesu Christ, i often wish the religious would grow up and go to hell

I can remember reading a post once that went something like this....If we ever got rid of religion then we would find another reason to kill each other . IOW the point was that religion plays no part in the killing of human beings. According to this guy, you could arbitrarily substitute anything for religion and people will still kill.... Killing is inherent in human beings so religion is blameless.
Yet we would find another reason to kill he said, as if he didn't realize he just labelled religion as a reason to kill. When faced with this logic, no wonder people are so, how do you say....fucked up.
Sure, Killing in the name of religion is no surprise, as a species we do love to kill each other.
But the above point; i got the idea from a newspaper opinion piece; is worth considering,
We saw riots all over the world by muslims after some american douche made some lame movie. Even in Sydney Australia.
This rioting class of muslims is not generally considered extremist.
But look what they are saying; I am not offended by the attempted murder of a young girl in the name of Mohammed.
according to studies conducted by our military
lass than 10% of us are "natural born killers"
which they have attempted to alter through revamping their training programs.
so your
is just a tad rad dadas a species we do love to kill each other
agreed it was a flippant remark.
Though what about the killing we do nothing to stop, through inaction. Perhaps we are natural born indirect killers.
according to studies conducted by our militaryCorrect. In fact one of the most challenging problems the US military often had until WWII was Soldiers unwillingness to kill others--the results of this resistance were units surrendering or being overrun even though they still have more than 90% of their soldiers and most of their ammunition. The US military didn't tackle the problem in a scientific manner until near the end of the war when people like SL Marshall started doing formal analysis. The aftermath of those studies were many changes to training--many of them very simple to put into effect. Things like doing marksmanship using man looking targets instead of bulls eyes to overcome peoples natural aversion at putting a person in their rifle sights for the first time-- of course the idea is to make the process of identifying a target and accurately firing the weapon as automatic and least distracted by emotionalism as possible. Putting them though increasingly more realistic training scenes with injured soldiers etc. A lot of this early work is documented in "Men Against Fire" by SL Marshall.lass than 10% of us are "natural born killers"

Is a poor question...Muslims don't look for Mohammed's approval--he was only a prophet and is dead.
A rational mind doesn't kill, wound, mame, brutalise, rape etc.
Perhaps and displaying ignorance about Islam which assumes Mohammad is some half-god to them, like Jesus is to the Christians.biggotted hate inspired question maybe.
Not even close.I'm pretty sure he's as big in Islam as Jesus is in Christianity.
Mohammad was the last of a long list of prophets--he was a man.
There are specific prohibitions to showing images of Mohammad because Islam teaches that one shouldn't worship Mohammad so they confuse him with Allah.
Muslims do not seek Mohammad's approval or accept him into their hearts--those things are between man and Allah.
Of course he's the messenger from Allah (through the angel Gabriel) and his teachings figure prominently in Islam.
Mohammad is to a Muslims closer to how all three religions of the book view Moses than how Christians view Jesus.
OK then, thanks for taking the time to enlighten me.
I guess i incorrectly came to that assumption because he started islam, (yes i know, on the shoulders of moses, abraham..). And news stories about muslims taking offence are usually about mohammed being insulted and not Allah.
I read today that some Islamic clerics in Pakistan have issued a fatwa against the Taliban gunmen who attempted to kill the 14 year old girl. Which in the context of a sordid eye for an eye mentality, pleases me.
I'm just disgusted at the recent widely publicesed murder attempt, and the september 11 rioting. And nervous about the long term affects of the plans to build another muslim ghetto/complex in my city.
I'm really starting to hate religions, loonies like Paul Braum and every muslim i read about in the news don't help.
Succintly put in a newspaper i read yesterday, with regard to research into male youth suicide and homosexuality "Could church teaching on homosexuality be the new psychological child-abuse issue of the coming decade?"
Good for them--that's exactly what needs to happen to turn the tide against the extremist--I hope that becomes a roar.I read today that some Islamic clerics in Pakistan have issued a fatwa against the Taliban gunmen who attempted to kill the 14 year old girl. I get where you are coming from, but the title of this thread could be perceived as highly offensive. And, although I'm against the violence of the protests, they are more then just a protest against a movie. For 3 decades the world has dumped metaphorical "gasoline" over the Middle East, the movie just provided the spark necessary to start the fire.

Do you have a supporting link?as a species we do love to kill each other
As for the military part, I provided one already which was "Men Against Fire" by SL Marshall.
Though the term i"natural" is too broad in this case--since obviously the young men joining the Army of the 1940s and 1950s, which were difficult to train to kill in actually combat, even to save themselves, are a composite of genetics and their mostly Christian environment they were raised in.
