I am using Samsung smartphone with 1350mAH battery. I am planning to go for a higher rated battery: either 1500mAH or 2100mAH. Is there any con in going for a higher rated battery? Like overheating? excessive current being drawn?

I don't see any problem but just wanted to know if anyone here knows any?

As long as it's the same series battery, aka it fits, it should be no problem. A larger capacity battery won't change the energy drain so won't effect the heat.

Hi RAJ. I;m not a great fan of redesigning the requirements of any technology that has proved functionable. It normally ends up in tears. Still, who am I to criticize experimentation.? I'm all for it, succeed or fail. Whatever your motives if your thinking is along looking at possibilities then one day you will come up with a brilliant idea that is practical, improves the original requirement, and may lead to other innovations. westwind.

Weswind, Mohanthilagaraj is not planning to design and build his higher rated battery. He is buying it from a vendor. So what is the point of your post? Or, was it subtle Aussie tongue in cheek? (If so when did you guys start using subtlety. At the very least there should have been a press release.)

Dear John Galt. Hi John. Had I realised that RAJ was sourcing his higher output battery from a vendor, then my emphasis would have centred around how he would go about re-designing a cell phone to accomadate the new specification battery. No, you are quite right, Australians do not, as a rule, do not engage in supple talk, their subtlety cannot come from a cunning concealing mind because that is not our way, We are more a reactive people, not normally given to thought. I am an Elder of the Australian Clan, so I have the responsibility and the time to speak constructively on behalf of my fellow self-seeking and fulfillment seeking brothers and Sisters.( adelady the exception ). Now I am only talking about Currency Australians here. These are my people. ( And their Decendants of course ). Good luck RAJ with the re-design of your Cell Phone. westwind.

If the footprint and connections are the same so you just plug it in the old slot, and the only difference is capacity, as long as the out voltage is the same, there should be no problem.
