I do not Face Book . I do not Twitter. Ido The Science Forum. But I would like to access NASA. earth science for automatic updates eg., Arctic Ice Melt etc. Their requirement for these updates is /are a twitter Account. You give personal information. What am I worried about here? I do not like the word Personal Account. What does this mean? Account to me means I have to pay somebody some money before I can access their product, in this case, information. Who can, other than the strict Information update Supplier, concern themselves with me.? And what for? I don't want my next door neighbour to know I have a twitter account. I don't want anybody to know I have a Twitter Account. I wouldn't want anybody to know I was on Facebook. Members of The Science Forum might like to give me the low down on any comittments or responsibilites I may be liable to should I join Twitter, seeking updated Earth/ Science information. westwind.

If you want NASA updates by email, you just enter the details in the subscribe block in the right hand column here. NASA - Home

NSIDC updates for Arctic ice are only done monthly, they also have a quarterly newsletter. They don't seem to have any automatic subscription service. Arctic Sea Ice News and Analysis | Sea ice data updated daily with one-day lag

Looks like the only non-social media way to keep up with NOAA is through an RSS feed. NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Seeing as most people would be following weather, storm, hurricane warnings from them, that's probably reasonable.

Just create an anonymous account and make up fake information where it asks you.

pyoko. I will kill if I have to. I will give my life for you if I believe it would be the best outcome. But to deliberatly fabricate an untruth, even if my own life was in danger, would be to become someone other than myself. And I can't imagine that without feeling worthless. No, a follower of Ned Kelly I may be, and to a point I may share his ethics, and his experiences, but hang me high before Iwill lie. Having said that, I'm not above telling an untruth. westwind.

Well, anonymous doesn't necessarily have to be false/ untrue.

So, from that passionate statement we may conclude with certainty that your name is indeed westwind.

Good guess John. What I would really like is to be a Sattelite myself and give daily reports back to The Science Forum. Or the Mars Rover, Curiorosity, providing of course there was a coffee maker on board and a six pack iced storaged unit. ( Trade Goods, naturally ). westwind.

I have similar frustrations Westwind. Hardly a day goes by where I'm not bugged by some agency, or find it required to have a twitter or means to receive a text on a cell phone. Such ideas are designed by city dwelling tech engineers who apparent can't imagine that tens of millions (probably a hundred million + Americans) don't have access to such stuff, or simply don't want it. I didn't have cell phone coverage at my last house, don't have it where I'm now. I will not have it at the place I'm about to buy even though it's along a major highway just 3 miles from town--that's how it is in the real world. I'm not why I'd want to be annoyed by one more gadget that cost $50 bucks a month anyhow--that's the last thing I need.
