A report just in from the Pinochhio Long News Agency Quotes sighting of a large mummified potato drifting in the North Sea. No steps other than notification have been made to the Oil Rig crews. By the same Agency we have received advice that the mummified potato will be monitored by Helicopters from Norway and Aberdeen. Any danger will be immediately reported to the Defence Department for appropriate action to commence. It is not known if the Giant Potato is hollow, is floating like an iceberg, or is some kind of a radar monitoring system. westwind.

Dear Paleoichneum. Thank you for posting. You know cobber I was beginning to feel very isolated. You know, like being sent to Coventry. Black Balled. I was becoming paronoid. I was in a world without love. Size of this reported Mummified Potato.? Just a chip off the old block I believe. westwind.

Mummification implies a dry environment- are you sure it is not a petrified potato? But if petrified, how then does it float? Either way, an unprecedented phenomenon worthy of a drink, several drinks in fact, followed by a good-old fashioned stupor.

Now if the stone spud were HOLLOW, it would float just fine, theoretically. But what could account for such a thing? Obviously, more serious drinking is in order...I mean thinking.
