Hello, we are doing a project on the history of DNA for a national history competition. If you know anything about this colorful history, please post it.

    Thank you.

Yes, we know about this controversial situation. Do you have any knowledge of DNA history outside of the studies conducted by Franklin, Wilkins, Crick, and Watson? Also, if you know anything about the public's reaction to the discovery, please share it.

The human genome shares approxametly 50% of its genetic data with that of banana, 98% with chimpanzees, and 99.9% with the rest of humanity.

The first criminal case to use DNA profiling in the UK had a few interesting features: it proved the innocence of one suspect; the real murderer avoided being caught for a while by getting someone else to provide a DNA sample for him - in the end he was the first to be convicted on DNA evidence and the first to be caught by mass screening.

DNA's role in exonerating death row inmates has forced many of the States and its citizens to reconsider capital punishment. Our(US) judicial system isn't nearly as good as we'd pretended it to be. Out of fear for the truth, many of those same states refused to apply the technology to cases of those already put to death. I almost spit my coffee, when Perry said, at one of the debates, he "always errs on the side of life." Odds are he's approved the state murder of a few innocent men.

You speak from the heart Lynx, and there is much reason in your words.
It is unfortunate that many eschew that reason.
I respect you, and your opinion.
