Just realized that I've never seen a woman post on this site. Now, maybe some of the posting members I thought were men are really women. But what gives? I would expect at least a few women -- maybe not 50% -- but at least some. Maybe women are smarter than us and don't get involved with forums.

I'm a woman. But this is my first post (although I plan to post more) so do I really count?

I don't think it's required. Have fun! There are very smart and well-educated people here -- I'm not one of them BTW.

Yes there are woman here. I'm one of them. But if they are like me and use elements/non gender specific names as usernames there is no way of telling.

Argon, am in despair here with the question. Please correct me if I am at fault.
The purpose of this forum is to explore science in all its forms, with ideas that
may challenge current thinking, and concepts that may be in contradiction with
mainstream thinking. Forgive my french, but what the hell has that to do with
gender? I care less about your gender, your thoughts and ideas interest me only.

Don't you think there is a question of interest here to behavioral or social science - i.e., why men are more apt than women to participate in a science forum (if they are)?

Excellent point. Prince suspects male predominance but amazingly has no opinion regarding cause or even correctness of assumption. Any explanation risks being labeled "sexist".

Why not ask instead if there are any vegetarians on site, nokton is true, ideas are what count most here, not anatomy or personal lifestyles.

Oh dont worry. I merely responded on the threats title "are there any woman members here?". I also said that
there is no way of telling if its not clearly stated that a user is a woman so that would suggest that we are the
same unconfirmed gender unless stated otherwise by the user. I really dont see the problem here or the reason of your sudden outburst.

Sometimes just being a general curmudgeon is enough.

I wish there were more scientifically inclined females around!
