To all who think that music is the art of arts.......

I have read a certain amount about music and enjoyed some of Roger Scruton's writing, but am not entirely satisfied by what I have read. I would like to find a way of responding to great music which is not in the form of criticism or just appreciation.

To begin with, can it be shown that music is a finer art than the other arts?

Secondly, how can we adequately describe or express the greatness of music?

Well, how do we respond to other great works in the arts, without using either criticism or appreciation?

This "greatness of music" can range from a fully orchesrated concierto to a boy banging on a tin can.

Painting, graphic art can be simple or very complicated.

Besides complication, the aesthetic quality can be very esoteric and hard to define.

Most art lovers demand some originality, art for arts sake.

Redundance and repetition is great for commercial music acts and commercial graphic artists.

    Music VS other arts?
    poetry
    drama
    dance?
    orchestration

    It IS other arts.
