Thread: Last moment brainstorm of tattoo text, help!

Getting my tattoo on friday Its an ouroboros on my back with a maelstrom within it, with the text around that goes: TEMPVS EDAX RERVM (I was told by the artist that designed it that ancient rome, U = V and i should stay true to that, true?)

Basicly it means "time devours all", but im wondering now if there is a more fitting text considering my philosophy. So if you wanna help here goes my philosophy and thoughts behind the tattoo:

I believe in the big crunch, that the universe i cyclic - this is exactly what the ouroboros represents. The maelstrom, dragging people down in the middle of the ouroboros is a... symbolism the right word?... for time devouring people in eternity. The ouroboros also being a symbol for time, cyclicity.

Im also a nihilist, i dont believe anything or anyone has any inherent value so to speak. I am however optimistic to nihilism. Because i believe to be truly happy one must be truly free, and a universe with no real values or purpose makes this so. It is also important to note that i do believe in subjective values, just not in objective ones.

Considering my philosophy, the meaning behind my tattoo, do you guys know of a phrase or text with my tattoo that would fit better? Or does "Time devours all" kinda fit allready? Im satisfied ofcourse, and the tattoo is personal not for others so i dont really care much. However id like an outside opinion as it is just 48 hours left to my appointment.

The appointment took 1 year to get, cause i wanted the best in the city. And ive been wanting this motive/tattoo for 4 years. Im as 100% as i could ever be. Why do you think id regret it?

I will say, though... follow your own thoughts on this. You could say, "bugs bunny will meet me in heaven." It's your back we're talking about. The challenge with text is that we view it very differently as time progresses. You will come to understand the sentiment in many different ways as you get older.

Why not go the Vincent route? Much more impressive and you can spend the weekend in Arles.

EDIT: Ophiolite, as a time lord i expect you to be ancient and have unlimited wisdom and such. You have any other suggestions for quotes that might fit better for my purposes?

I was thinking of Vincent van Gogh and the legendary cutting off of his ear - actually just a part of his ear lobe. (I thought the reference to Arles where he spent time with Gaugin might have helped to identify which Vincent I was talking about. )
