Is it childish to use facebook? What does everyone think?
Usually, is it considered normal for a fully-fledged adult to use this social networking site?

My grandpa uses facebook![]()
Personally, I don't see the obsession with it- the website itself has a terrible layout, awful searching fields, it could be so much easier to use and it's just a bit of a mess. Why do people like it so much?!
Because they're bored and have nothing else better to do... If you ask me its a terrible way to communicate with people unless the people are stable and respond fairly quickly otherwise it creates this awkward tension. In ordinary conversations we have the whole social pressure to respond/be kind/listen etc (not always people following that of course), yet facebook is void of these things and makes communicating that much harder.
Actually its kind of useless really, the only purpose one could see is to use it to get girls phone numbers and jump straight to chatting on the phone with them.
That is the ultimate futility of the net. Imagining that 500 friends are real friends ???
The ultimate 'communication' bs
I think its a teen girl thing, i go on for a few minutes, apparently my cousin spends all night on it.Personally, I don't see the obsession with it- the website itself has a terrible layout, awful searching fields, it could be so much easier to use and it's just a bit of a mess. There was a woman who tried something similarActually its kind of useless really, the only purpose one could see is to use it to get girls phone numbers and jump straight to chatting on the phone with them.

Quantime is right it's pretty useless and you have to be careful. I tried this app to check who had de-friended me and exited halfway. A message was sent to i think all of my friends "I just checked who de-friended me and i couldn't believe it. But now I know and I'm coming after you".
I closed down my Facebook account last year. The whole thing felt so pointless with hundreds of people I never knew, nor never will know, wanting to be friends. The amount of pointless, even pitiful petitions that I was asked to sign up for beggars belief. The worst of all ( in my opinion ) is the twats that do all this farming stuff, and they tell you all about it.![]()
+ recently there are some annoying spams on fb about "find out who viewed your profile", but i dont think its entirely pointless cause i have actually managed to find alot fo friends who i have l;ost contact with and now know how they are, which i think is one good factor of FB.Originally Posted by Dave Wilson

Generally speaking, I only add people I already know on Facebook. My relationship with my girlfriend really started through talking on Facebook, so I find it difficult to say the whole thing is pointless :P
I can see that getting a chick via facebook as a good thing, but after that.........Originally Posted by drowsy turtle
OK, yes that is another good point about finding lost friends.Originally Posted by Heinsbergrelatz
Its a good way to keep in touch with people we actually underestimate need to socialize and facebook offers a good medium in which to do it without much investment.
After that, we continue(d) to use facebook to chat. She is out of the country currently, and we are using facebook to talk to each other because it's significantly cheaper than texting/calling internationally. Although admittedly, we could use msn or skype...Originally Posted by Dave Wilson
The other use I have for facebook is finding out exactly what happened to me the night before, when I get tagged in photos. Those of you who have me as a friend on facebook will know what I mean....Then again sometimes I wish I hadn't found out! :P
Oh God, the dreaded " You have been tagged "Originally Posted by drowsy turtle

I've had a page for about a year and a half or so.
I find it confusing and still, after all this time, know how to quickly go to a friend's wall to post something.
There's far too much spam, from idiotic games to come-on from faux hot people chicks etc. Select your type of music in a profile and you got tons more spam from those bands--I'm glad most of my favorites disbanded a long time ago.
The good part is I've gotten emails from people I haven't heard from in 20 + years. It's been fun catching up. The military is hard on friendships--even ones forged in combat.
I like the tagged photo feature because folks I know have put up pictures of my I hardly remembered and visa versa.
I have facebook because my friends haves it, but I have no other reasons to have facebook. I thinking about to close down my fb-page.
I did it for girls but yea no real point after that. im off it now so it wont interfer with my studies.
