If you could choose one of the following traits, which would you take and why?

This is in ADDITION to whatever traits you allready posess as a person. You would receive this instantly without the time or experience it would take to develop them normally.

Personally i feel im doing good at charisma, and im working out to improve physical strength. I also believe wisdom comes with critical thinking and experience, and that im developing good there. I also have nice reflexes and agility.

The choise for me would have to be sharper intellect, slightly winning over being more resillient to mental and physical strain and damage.

How about you guys? What would you choose and why?

More charismatic. Out of everything you listed, I believe that is the only one that has a major impact in promotions, or getting a perfect job, or getting a raise.

You can have two people. One a genius who is highly qualified and not very likable, and another who is relatively average and is sort of qualified but very likable. Guess who gets hired or promoted?

Hmm you have a point there. I was going to argue with you about it... but as unfortunate as it is, as social creatures with a hierarchy , humans tend to value pathos and ethos over logos, which is why we are so imperfect as a species in my opinion. So in most cases i think you are right, the charismatic person - regardless of benevolent or malevolent intent would easily get the job over the other.

I opted for wisdom and knowledge. They've worked for me so far.

The practice of any one of those will provide some benefit to all the others.
Ultimately I chose "Greater speed and agility", all the better to whoop the charismatic yuppie boy with.
I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.

Why would you want to do that?

The OP suggested that if you already have said trait, there is no need to vote for it. Maybe GiantEvil is already charismatic.

    Only if it becomes necessary.
Charisma comes in multiple flavors and is significantly subjective, quicker however is wholly objective.

I may have misinterpreted the op:

I understood this to mean that you would improve by some amount compared to your current condition.

I don't know GiantEvil in person, so I can't honestly judge him. He could be exceedingly charismatic.

Very few people I know are truly charismatic-I would say only one person I know is able to generally effectively dominate and control social interactions, and very strongly influencing the thoughts, opinions, and actions of others. A good number of others are fairly charismatic.

I think in the bell curve of level of charisma a strong majority are relatively close to the center, and then after a sharp initial drop the slope would lead to only a slow drop with increasing extremes.

I am not a charismatic person.
    Would I choose charisma?

Perhaps, but I think this can come from intelligence (and practice).

The thought behind this poll, was the following: This is a science forum. So i figured most people here would consider themselves allready smart and wise. And that the practical choise would be to supplement this with what they lack (Jack of all trades, balancing out themselves. Logically a much larger overall gain)

Instead, more votes seem to fall for being wiser and smarter. Indicating in my eyes, that people would rather be better at what they allready are. More specialized.

Im guessing the logic would be, if you were a real good swimmer. Youd want to be even BETTER in it, even though the choise to also become a better driver should appeal more if you suck at it. Like noone likes to be number 2. 1 gold medal is better than 10 silver medals etc.

I wanted to test this on a large scale but not enough voters here i guess

I think I may have skewed the results with my first response. I think it made some people vote for something that they may not have, otherwise.

In either case, I stand by my answer as the best out of all of your choices, regardless of a persons intellect, social status, or wisdom.

I have never met an unsuccessful charismatic person. I have, however, met a lot of people who think they are smarter than everybody else who are very unsuccessful. Regarless of whether they are right, or not, they are still unsuccessful.

I'm gonna go for health since I'd rather live longer and more comfortably (in a health sense) than anything else.
