Within every person, the strength of their senses individually are very different. Most people are either visually or auditory dominant.

At this moment, I am performing an experiment to find out people's dominant sense and how we can predict one's dominant sense.

Is it true that men are bad listereners and women good ones, or are you perhaps an exception?!

Please click on the following link and perform the test. If you do, and fill in your email address when requested, I'll send you the results on the test and some more info on dominant senses. The test takes about 15 minutes to finish.

    Thanks in advance!

    Who said this was true?

Being a good or bad listener is not gender related.

It's a personal cyharcateristic. Myself I am more visual that auditory and learn better from visual materials than auditory ones.

With maths problems for example I can solve in my head only if I can see the problem written down, I have difficulty retaining the 'question' if just presented in auditory form. I find I spend my time trying to remember details of the question and thus cannot spend my time solving the problem!

The website is still inaccessible. A pity, it would have been interesting to see the results.

Folk wisdom certainly says women are better listeners, and research (which I heard referenced by a Professor of psychology at Nottingham, two days ago) says that men stop listening once they have the facts; women continue to learn about the related emotions.

When I am explaining or discussing something I find it all but impossible not to start writing things down, and drawing diagrams and flow charts. To accomodate this one wall of my office is covered in a much used white board. That suggests the visual is dominant for me.

Well I'm not sure folk wisdom is a particularly reliable source when it comes to physiological differences between genders.

I guess it rather depends also what one is listening to.

Women may be better at listening to small talk and men better at making it any reliable links?

Perphaps a poll on this matter?
