Could we be in a semi-matrix?
Where our fate isn't fully controlled?

This doesn't really fit here. We'll see if anyone wants to discuss this in General Discussion.

There is no reason to believe we are.

actually, if you watched morgan freeman's through the wormhole, in one of the episodes they were philosophically dealing with the ideas of how the universe could have come about.

obviously they covered random creation for no good reason, god, string theory, and also they covered the theory some believe that the universe as we know it is a computer generated simulation. if you were to make a computer program, it would be simple enough to run it in particular dimensions with set physical laws and watch it go if you put in certain starting conditions(the big bang)

and actually the whole matrix idea is very compelling except that somebody would have to make the computer... where did they come from?

but all in all we do show the basic signs of running in a computer generated universe.
    physics: accurate, objective, boring
chemistry: accurate if physics is accurate, slightly subjective, you can blow stuff up
biology: accurate if chemistry is accurate, somewhat subjective, fascinating
religion: accurate if people are always right, highly subjective, bewildering

Can you tell me how this cant be true? How we cant be in a semi-matrix? I'm pretty stupid. lol So can you help me understand?

I mean this world is pretty impressive. I mean if someone created us this well, how would they not have full control over us?

If we'd been created inteligently enough, in a predeterministic universe, we would do as we are desired to without the need to input commands; if you lift a rock and then let go of it, it falls without you telling it to.
