I just read the thread 'what is time', some great mind bending reading with a coffee on a sunday morning

I'm going with the 'Time is what clocks measure'

So I was thinking, what with all the talk of time travel and moving faster than light which still wouldn't be time travel...

If you are at your desk with a cup of coffee and somebody called Bob travelling faster than light came in and took your cup of coffee from the desk and left again, what would you see?

Presumably if Bob were two seconds ahead of the light, would there be a 2 second window where you could reach for the coffee and it would be like a hologram your hand would pass through before you saw Bob's image catching up, coming in and removing the coffee? :-D

Kind of like seeing a super fast aircraft before youhear it...but different!!?

What I believe? I believe they got it all wrong.

Time doesn't move slower the further away they are, it moves faster.

But the time it takes for it's photons to reach us is still some.

the additional time it takes to reach us is d/c, but the time difference is positive and d/c, so what we see now, is the present out there. We see a big bang that is right now out there, covering us at all angles.

4. I don't quite understand what you mean...

5. I think:
The coffee would not be very far from you. So when Bob takes the coffee, you would see him take it almost immediately. Then you would see the light of Bob coming towards you, backwards, and the light of Bob going away form you at the same time. Two seconds later, you would see Bob when light was behind him by two seconds.

6. All this is assuming there is no other things affecting the image. Like Doppler Effect.

We have a person that moves in a speed and we have one that stands still.

Einstein tried to prove that the moving person moved slower in time, however I prove he was wrong. He made assumption that of a triangle with the sides:

A. the moving persons lights speed times time
B. the still persons lights speed times time
C. the moving persons speed

all lightspeed is constant, so A^2 - B^2 = C^2

So:

(ct)- vt(B) = ct(C)^2

So he drew the conclusion that time is relative, and that time in system C is slower.

However that is a stupid conclusion, because both objects move away from eachother, so the same thing is true for the other, both systems would've become slower.

So what's the truth?

The truth is that it's the distance in length, that makes time slower and less:

s/c = t

so:

t^2 - (vt/c)^2 = t^2

t^2 - (distance/c)^2 = t^2

Simply, the time on the roomdistance c is one second less for both systems.

So when we callibrate that it something is one lightsec away and that it took light one second to fly here, the picture it makes is actually one second younger, that's why big bang is right now.
