"Earth is a planet because it has all the requirements for a planet.

    The gravity
    The Atmosphere
The apt distance form a energy source(sun )
    All good chemical composition
Situated in a safe place away from crowed cities in the galaxy or
mm earth is in a remote village called solar system ,which is not even having a single black hole or any neutron stars etc etc of its own.

So its still a planet upto the time in which some species called humans destroy it with pollution."

ps: Quotes taken form a book from outer alien galaxy.

None of this is listed by the International Astronomical Union as criteria for classification as a planet.

Mercury has no (substantial) atmosphere, it is a planet.

the earth is a planet because we decided to call it a planet
everything else is merely an attempt to fit the facts around that decision
