im sure most of you have experienced getting examined on your oral for English. i really cant decide a topic, apart from talking science.

is it okay of you choose to talk about certain scientific concepts in your oral English? would you get deducted or anything??

    thanks~

Esoteric topics might receive some deduction due to boredom or lack of understanding.

I don't think anybody here could judge what your teacher expects out of an oral presentation.

Without knowing the educational system you are being examined under and without having a firsthand knowledge of that system, any advice you get is likely to be flawed.

That's just it. They're bored or don't understand the topic, but you get the deduction.

Also, if a speaker talks about an unfamiliar topic, then the judges can't rightly judge the speech. Or, if a speaker decides to spend a lot of time explaining the topic, then there's less speech to judge.

Also too, if a speaker talks about a topic on which the judges disagree or which would offend them (such as, teachers should be paid less), then that may also negatively affect their scoring.

Teachers are only human. To me, it's not a matter of bootlicking to get good marks, but it's a matter of not tempting their prejudices or testing their shortcomings that may negatively reflect on you, whether it's technically deserved or not.
