IQ tests measures less than a third of intelligence. Intelligence is comprised of (at least) three parts: The ability to assimilate and remember information, the ability to recall information and apply it to new problems, and the ability to make logical deductions.

IQ tests measure only the last, leaving the entire issue of memory and its application out. They are also, in my personal experience, very poor at measuring anything, since they focus on different idiosyncracies (Mensa likes geometry, some tests measure 'common sense', still others are focused on iterative deductions).

All in all, while you might get more information than from flipping a coin - barely, I wouldn't care to place any expensive bets on the usefulness of IQ tests.
    And God said: Div(E) = \rho / \epsilon_0, Curl(E) = - \partial(B,t), Div(B) = 0, Curl(B) = \mu_0 (j + \epsilon_0 \partial(E,t)). And there was light.

And thus God sent forth Man from the Garden of Eden after a heated discussion of dresscodes and eating habits.

Jealous of what exactly? You have to care about something to be jealous. It's as if I was asking you if you were jealous your pal got the best mark in chinese. "Who cares about that?" That's I think what you have said.

Whatever, the IQ tests I took were those at iqtest.com. What's funny is that when I took one about one year and a half ago (I was 16 and a half) I got a score of 120 (above average). And when I took one a few days ago, it dropped to 104 (average). Probably getting more dumb everyday

But I only take them for fun. I prefer memory and calculation tests. There are some at www.objectiftest.com if someone is interested. It's french but it's all numbers and colors so it doesn't matter

I score really high on them, so I'm going to say they count for something

I don't put a heck of a lot of stock in them. They are probably good as very rough indicators of intelligence, but you can practice for IQ tests and train yourself for IQ tests like you can any test. Does it make me smarter if I specifically prepare for IQ tests and raise my score 20-30 points? I don't think so. It just means I'm more familiar with the style of questions you get on IQ tests though my raw intelligence isn't really any higher. I don't think it's comprehensive enough to be able to confidently assign people intelligence scores.
