DES MOINES, Iowa - A Glenwood man has pleaded guilty to possessing drawings of children being sexually abused.

The book 1984 looked at thought crimes as being more serious than actual crimes. This case is interesting because it is seen as a crime even though no actual crime has been committed. Are we really at the point where thought is seen to be the same as action?

Don't get me wrong, I think it is perverse for anybody to be turned on by the sexual abuse of kids; but their is a core difference. This man is only guilty of having what we consider to be deviant thoughts and pose no harm to society.Which differs from those that have shown that they cannot stop the progression from thoughts to deeds, and having this lack of control do pose a danger to society.

Thirst is a “stronger” need than hunger. Likewise, if you are very very thirsty, but someone has put a choke hold on you and you can’t breath, which is more important? The need to breathe, of course. On the other hand, sex is less powerful than any of these. Let’s face it, you won’t die if you don’t get it!.....Maslow
