"Cheese is a luxury that cannot be afforded under a communist regime..."

...even though it is a natural byproduct of surplus milk, and an effective means of semi-long term preservation

communism is renowned for it's relative efficient use of resources, I don't know if this is founded on historical fact, but reason alone makes me to concur

while milk would probably not be sacrificed to make most types of cheeses, it would might be used to make things like cottage cheese and yogurt, since these are relatively cheaper, quicker to make, longer lasting and healthier than most other milk products.

I prefer an empty cup. Anything in it seems to make it harder to put anything else in it and I prefer to take things as they come.

Bitterness makes us value sweetness, it's not a matter of destiny but a matter of training one's experiential self. Habits, good or bad, are habits, and "even a rebel tradition is slavery."

Not that I need the fiber but those 'Fiber One' wanna be pop tarts are good... Blueberry only, btw. Also I went biking today another 12 miles, it rained, I liked it. I couldn't help but notice the aroma coming from different houses. I could distinctly tell which houses were Desi, compared to which ones were well something else...lol I laugh because on any given day my house smells like I am right smack in the middle any South Indian village.

Well since my dad is Indian ( I know what u r thinking, blonde hair and blue eyes...WHAT! I look like the albino version of him Moms white btw) I eat a lot of "desi" food. Though I might need to slow down on that, think I'm getting acid reflux.

)@ DementisVir - I'm very sorry to hear of your demotion, and I do hope that in time, you will be promoted back to your original level. Just asking, but what did you do wrong?

@ Sfere - Wow, I would've never have guessed that you were part Indian. (You totally got me on the blond hair blue eyes part... ) So, do you manage to visit India at all?

    My thoughts for today:

Teacher Appreciation Day ---> Movie Theme and Walk of Fame ----> 100 + people involved just from faculty ----> 60 kids trying to work everything out ----> Food issues and necessities -----> Backboards and theme music for each movie (8) -----> Me, as original idea-maker, organizer, and President of this whole thing = CHAOS

There you go, that's the chaos theory in a nutshell. Because our Teacher app. Day is on May 5th, and I'm STRESSED OUT HERE!

    P.S. I love Meg Cabot's books!!!!!

    Thoughts for today:

    a) I love Meg Cabot.

b)It's getting very hot these days (81 degrees rite now)

    c) OMG, my nine yr old bro just called some girls HOT. Ohshitohshitohshit. NOOO! DONT TWIST HIS INNOCENT MIND!! NOOOO.

Ah, the power of public schools.

    d) I really hate retainers/dentists. All the skin from the inside of my cheek is getting rubbed off by the metal. I could literally kiss the person who thought of using wax as a salve....brilliant life-saver!

e)I have to do a project on Iraq War in Social Studies. My teacher is a sadist.

f)I almost punched a girl today. (key word: almost)

    g) I got called "violent" and "mean" and "sarcastic" and "funny" all in one sentence. Should I be insulted or not? :-D

    h) This is the end of my post. No, not really. One more thing:

*What the heck is area 51?

It was 80ish here this past weekend and yesterday as well. It was nice, I went up to my friends island where we made believe we were pirates. We drank, made music, sat around the bon fire, ate a lot of burnt flesh and in the relatively sober daytime we scavenged an abandoned skiff and raided a nearby island.

So I did a 12 hour shift at the hospital, came home went and biked 11 1/2 miles at Terry Hershy Park, after being up at that point 24 hours I decided to sleep because there was no way I was missing the 12:00 am showing of "Wolverine"! So now I am back, I have to say the movie was really awesome!!! I guess I will catch up now on the forum, and play some Spore...

played some blues with a friend on the sidewalk the other day, we made 2 bucks, it was beatifull

tourist season is only 3 weeks away: I need to learn some new songs, polish up my own, and play a couple open mics (get over stage fright)

My dream is(far fetched...) that I could make enough money playing music and working seasonally to go to collage then make enough money working seasonally and playing music and/or writing to start a non-profit agricultural research project as a front for a secret society... shhhh, don't tell anyone

very easily, Tri, I'm not here by choice. I was born Washington, but my parents moved here when I was 4 months. I, personally, would much rather be in Washington or Montana, or even Idaho. But, I still live with me folks, so that just isn't gunna happen. Where are you, though? apparently not in Sunny California?

Arc, you're a West Coast guy, I'm an East Coast girl. I am in Georgia (nickname: the Lousy One), and right now, it is raining pretty hard. Sniffle. No palm trees here.

I guess the Georgia Aquarium and Coke Headquarters make up for it....but you've got Hollywood and L.A. and San Francisco, and oh so many other things! But if it was up to me, I'd move back up to the North, maybe near New York where I was born......

    Ah. Bittersweet nostalgia.

yeah, but you also don't have to deal with the INSANE amount of rude, snobby, rich, stupid people. I have a very, VERY, low tolerance for stupid people. (I define stupid as willfully ignorant to the point of refusing to learn). San Fran is a horrible place, it may be a cool tourist place, but everywhere that isn't touristy is HORRIBLE. L.A. is polluted as all hell, so I will never be caught DEAD down there unless absolutely necessary. The weather is the only thing nice here... I really hate California, and I like cold weather, so I'm outta here within 4 years most definitely

Tonight I finally caught up on some Tivo'd shows, which included "The Big Bang Theory". This is such an awesome show! My question is; where are all the Rajesh, Leonard, and Sheldon's of the world? I mean no guy's when I went/go to school with are that nifty... They seem to have the perfect balance of brains, wit, hardcore gamer passion, and social ineptness. Where are they? They can't all be at Cal Tech...

I couldn't be bothered to sleep last night, and ended up watching the film 'shrooms' at 3am. This part nearly made me wet myself:

    Good night, Drowsy Turtle.

Hey, has anyone seen Numii around? I miss her...she was really nice and cool.

Come out, come out Numii! We miss you!

Actually, come to mention it, I havent seen Bad wolf around either, whats up with people?

    My thought:

"Vida la vida" is a pretty ok song, but is the king stuff really metaphorical or were they just expanding on random words for the song lyrics?

    I realized that I missed tritai. <3
You're back! Oooooh, I missed you so much! It was weird not having another female to count on for laughs, cause even Absum!'s been dormant for a while (sniffle). Anyways, I'm glad you're still alive....guess what? I got my hair cut (layers) and it honestly looks pretty good! I can't wait to show my friends. :-D

    Thoughts for the day:

    a) I love reading, but I hate being forced to read boring books.

    b) I hate my Neanderthal-like math teacher who sounds like a constipated duck.

    c) I <3 my haircut!

    d) I've got to get working on some Social Studies work....what does one ask a former state governor whose legislation on the state flag was dismissed, and that aided his removal from office?

    Bye, people! <3 u numii

Oh my I have found nerdom! So I am sitting in a long ass line for Star Trek. I can't believe Houston has so many, I never see them. Oh well I'm sitting here waiting for the movie to start. I seriously thought a movie starting at 00:50 would not be so packed.

Tri!!! Awe little buddy I work three days a week so it is hard for me to get on during the week. I bet your excited school is almost done.

@ Marcus - It was a rhetorical question, but thanks for taking the time and effort to answer all the same. (P.S. I was on Local TV with the guy! He actually wasnt as deathly boring as i thought he would be...)

@ Sfere - SO TRUE! I am sooo ready for school to be over. I cant wait to go to India, and then I cant wait to go to high school!

... okay, Tri, what compelled you to find that on youtube? (assuming it wasn't my inqury that drove you there, but something you found prior to me asking)

    funny, disturbing... and, why??

I'm excited, I just got a better shift at my job, now working mornings for the ENTIRE summer!! Yay!

I went for a CASAS today but was late . Next assessment is in only a week though

I'm gonna do a collage transition course.

Don't know exactly what I want to go to collage for. I'm thinking of writing, since I have been told that I have a way with words, but know damn well I don't have a way with technique.

One thing I am interested in is harmony between senses, as is described in some schools traditional Asian metaphysics. Maybe majoring in neurology and physics and trying to find some harmony between sound, sight, taste, feeling, smell.

I'd like to use such harmony, if there is any, to create intense experiences in the form of epic musical dramas, a lot like Wagner describes, except MUCH more epic, complete with scent and taste stimuli in the form of food, incenses, perfumes, etc.
Incorporating as much of the brain in harmony as possible.

I really don't know how realistic that is, but it sure is interesting.

That sounds really really cool. Forgive the teenaged jargon, but I couldnt think of a good enough word to replace "cool", so there it is.

Maybe someday, you're going to write an extraordinary book on neurological harmony. I know I would read it!

    My thoughts:

    a) A boy in my class took 4 sleeping pills at once during Spanish. Then nearly collapsed in 6th (final) period. What a d-bag.

    b) I learned how to dance the basics of salsa and "la cumbia" today during Spanish, and the whole class cleared a space for me and my Colombian friend, Paula, as we danceed to some really good songs, most of them in Spanish, but one being "Hips Don't Lie". ♥

    c) I love the movie "Bend It Like Beckham".

    d) Dancing is addictive.

    e) DRAMIONE! (NO, not dramamine)

f)Always, ALWAYS remember to check and make sure your headphones are plugged in the computer before turning on T. Pain songs on full blast in class.

    g) I'm so lucky my language arts teacher is a nice lady. If you're wondering why I say so, read the above.

    h) Doublemint gum is good.

    i) Jealousy is a powerful thing.

    Later!

I was referring to glass showing liquid properties at room temperature.

In old windows, the glass is significantly thicker at the bottom than at the top, as the glass 'flows'.

Is it? I have seen warped windows, the likes of which would lead one to assume they are flowing.

I haven't looked it up but as I recall, apparently prior to the Pilkington and other modern processes for the creation of sheet glass, various forms of blowing had to be used to produce window panes, and these were necessarily (as a result of the production process) of slightly inconsistent thickness. It is this inconsistency that resulted in the erroneous conclusion that glass 'flows' at room temperature.

You'll actually need a materials scientist for this but as I understand it, a 'glass' is a special type of solid - an homogenous, but non-crystalline substance. It isn't just common glass that displays these properties, but other substance like obsidian (a volcanic glass) and even sometimes caramelised sugar and so on.

Because glass is non-crystalline, for instance, it does not have the facility of crystalline substances for crystal bonds to re-form after a slippage of one bond-width under shear. This slippage is what gives metals, for instance, their malleability and also their toughness - it takes a lot of energy to overcome this natural 'crack-stopping' property of metals. Glasses do not have this facility, as I said, so a crack in glass can propagate at astonishing speeds (greater than Mach 1), and in all directions, giving it the well-known property of brittleness and shattering into shards.

    Oh dear... overly nerdy, no?

Glass is just the amorphous form of quartz ().

The only difference between the two, is the speed at which cooling occurs: glass is cooled in a matter of seconds, or minutes at most, whereas crystalline quartz cools over a period of years, or millions of years.

Crystallisation takes so long because of the viscosity of molten silica, I think.

Toughened glass is made by cooling the glass even faster, so there is no preferred allignment of molecules in the glass; there are no weaker planes for the glass to fracture along.

    THOUGHTS FOR TODAY:

    a)Watermelon is very good. Mmmmmm......
So is mango. They don't call it the "king of fruits" for no reason.

    b) I'm going to India this Thursday, and returning on July 4th! I hope I don't get blown to bits by stray fireworks or something....

    c) Choreography is fun!

My thought for today is, what exactly is the legality on carrying a swiss army knife in this nanny-state I live in?

And so, is it worth spending an amazon gift voucher on one?

I don't why, but i've noticed that some users in this site always try to discard each others sayings, rather than being cooperative to them !!

Ah, nevermind then Personally not a fan of the mmorpg genre, I do however like rpg's, but when mixed with that whole online bit it loses a bit of interest for me. I like online strategy games.

Each of them slightly more penultimate than the last?

Another one is why do some people (Treckies, if I'm honest) call space the final frontier? If it is final, then what is it a frontier to?

    Here's some concentrated thought juice:

-What exactly is the appeal of a textured ceiling? I mean who actually cares?

-Windows; why fill a hole in the wall with glass that you are then going to remove from the gap anyway?

-How do you leave yourself a reminder to buy more post-it notes if you run out?

    -What exactly is white spirit?

-Why don't they make gum biodegradable? Then there wouldn't be all them white blotches all over every road and pavement in the world.

Found a legal loophole the other day; if you have an amazon gift voucher and spend it on a knife, at no point does it ask you if you are old enough to legally purchase the knife (18 in this country). Therefore, I will be fully equipped for a killing spree in 4-7 days......

Never mind that the kitchen is already full of bigger, stronger sharper knives, just like almost everyone elses kitchen for miles around.....

Yeah, don't sell knives to under 18s; then they'll never be able to get a hold of one..... *sigh*

Does your avatar just look like a single straight line to you now?

    Just a thought.

I'm SERIOUSLY hoping that you're joking.

    Thoughts for today:

    a) Finals are over!!! YEA!!!

    b) I have three in-school parties tomorrow. Finally.

    c) My principal who looks like a hippo on drugs is pissed off at me because I'm going to be missing awards' day. Pssssh. As if my teachers won't give it to me the day before.

    d) Teaching little brothers Spanish may lead you to rip out your hair or have an urge to have a cathartic scream.

    e) I'm going to India day after tomorrow! Sorry for those of you who have read this countless times so far. And no, I won't be shutting up any time soon.

    f) Biologia es muy muy muy phenomenal! Me gusta estudiar biologia!

    g) Archaeologist makes me laugh with all of his little threads that are purely dedicated to him and his issues. If you ever look up the word "narcissim" in the dictionary and there's a man's picture underneath, let us know! I'm almost entirely sure it would be Archy. (Most likely bald with a beer-belly, but don't tell him I said that!)

    h) I'm now gonna spare you guys the rest of my life-story seeing as you all have lives and would like to get back to them.

    Later, amigos!

    It's 2:40am.

Based on this evidence, I have to conclude that I have no life.

Wow, Turtle, I'm hard pressed with that one. I suppose one would have to conclude that you dont have a life. And yet, there you sit....typing away like nothing's wrong. It's 9:45 here, so I'm still ok. Until, of course, the monster of a mother comes hurtling up the stairs....

    LOL.
