Okay, before I go into my topic I suppose I should talk about myself. I'm not an entomologist, nor any kind of scientist for that matter but I have always had a great interest in odonate insects. This interest eventually turned into active observation and collection on my part.

After numerous searches and readings concerning dragonflies and damselflies, I have found there is very little literature that discusses how to preserve odonate specimens and information concerning behavior of certain species, like flight speed, can be sparse.

So what I'm trying to do is share my knowledge and collection for anyone else who cares. Images, observations, etc.

Of the various insects I have collected, none has been more difficult to preserve then specimens of the odonate family. Unlike, say butterflies which have their wonderful coloration on scales, odonate coloration can drastically fade or blacken if the normal collection methods are used.

Through a combination of experimentation and discussions with professional entomologists, I have found optimal ways to preserve many species. I'm always searching for better ways myself.

Right now, my page isn't complete and I have yet to write a comprehensive guide for preservation techniques and many entries are not complete yet but most of the images are up. Eventually I hope to have detailed information on 52 specimens in the collection (from 33 different species).

Now, in real life I do not know anyone who is interested in this and even fewer online. I'm not sure if this is just a wasted effort. So, I was just wonder what are thoughts from actual professionals on the format or its usefulness. I would also wouldn't mind hearing any suggestions. Thanks.

It is not a topic that interest me, but let me make a general observation. The discipline required to organise your thoughts on any such matter make the effort worthwhile even if no one gets anything from your site.

The chances are that at least one or two other enthusiasts on the planet will discover your site and gain something from it. That will make the effort doubly worthwhile.

Nicely presented. I like how there are gaps between the hyperlinks. It makes everything a lot clearer. Also I like how the relevant information (gender, location and date) are attached to the picture where you don't have to scan the whole document for most important info.

I like the way its ordered, clear and conscise.
