    Hey guys,

ColdFusion had me thinking about this. I'm a smoker, I smoke alot, I like partying and with partying comes copious amounts of alcohol and nicotine!

How many of you guys smoke? I'm just wondering because I find when I smoke I can think better (surprise), I've been quitting smoking (well, not really, I smoke when I socialise), and am finding my mental powers to be sucking alot! Not that I'm uber with the mental powers!

I have a friend who is studing psychology, he told me that if you smoke a cigarette fast, it helps you focus on a single problem at mind, when you smoke slowly you can absorb in more, but can't really solve problems... That makes sense at nicotine is a simulant...

All the times I've solved major technical problems, not necessarily math, but more dependent problems, have been when I'm smoking... I'm a programmer/techical artist, and have a great intuition for building structures based on relationships... I find it funny that without cigarettes, I have noticed that I struggle to come up with solutions... Was wondering if any of you guys have experienced the same???

I'm not saying smoking is good, far from it, but I have to admit it gives me a little advantage...

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

    Cheers

I use to think the same about caffeine, after a few cups of coffee I was on my game. Turns out the withdrawal from not having it just made me so off my game that I thought the coffee was making me better. I was wrong. Been without coffee for about 6 months or so, never felt better.

Your kidding yourself. Once you 100% quit and are free for a couple weeks you'll find your better mentally. While quitting, your going to be useless. Long term you'll be better.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name

So are you saying they help you focus, but it's all in your head ? Do you smoke, and have you ever quit for a period of time?

I don't know about smoking helping you focus, but apparently smokers are a little bit less likely to develop Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. Although, they are much more likely to develop lung cancer.
