ready to make its turn to the east now so I'm going to be putting my hurricane shutters up. They are very useful and easy to work with. Since they are aluminum they are rather light but very strong. Since I live in Key West they mave made a mandatory evacuation notice this morning that everyone must leave for there's going to be no hospital help in case of emergencies. I will wait to see the catagory of the storm before I will evacuate for my home can wirthstand and has withstood cat 3 storms just fine.

Right now it is overcast and a little drizzle is falling but I'm sure that will change. I've been through 16 hurricanes so far and this house is still just fine. I won't take a chance if it is a cat 3 or more and will scedattle post haste if I see that headed my way.

You do have bottled water, non-perishable foods, and candles, don't you? And wireless internet access?

I have plenty of bottled water and a portable generator but no wireless internet so if the telephone lines go down you won't be hearing from me until there back online which may take awhile. Again thank you for your concerns as well. So many great people here expressing their concerns, thank you all. The hurricane has now finally turned and is at 86.2 longitude but looks like its not getting any higher in latitude as yet. That could mean that it heads towards Cuba more than the Keys, that would be better for us here but I feel sorry for those living in Cuba. Cuba has already been hit by over 40 inches of rain in some of the mountainous ranges and more rain and now wind is happening there.

Thanks. The pressure is dropping and it is now almost a cat 3 which is very dangerous compared to a cat 2 here in the Keys. Every that can be done is done, now we wait.

We just bhad a outer band roll through , it hit about 50 MPH which isn't to bad. Those bands will increase in duration and strength as time passes. At least this thing will be out of here rather quickly which means we won't be as devestated as Cancun was but it will be rather nasty.

Well that was interesting! I've just got my telephone line back up and can finally get online at home. It was some ordeal let me tell you. I have a friend that has a wind speed indicator and he said a gust of 158 hit us. We had lots of damages and many homes were hit hard but no one lost their life. I stepped on a piece of glass and was in the hospital for a few days but now it is feeling better but I still have to return to the hoapital to remove the rest of the remaining glass. It was a cat 3 but only registered a cat 2 at the hurricane center.

:-D Thanks! Good to be back posting again and to talk to everyone once again. I just wish I hadn't stepped on that glass for my foot is in terrible pain almost all the time. How's everything going around here?

Comme Ci Comme Ca. It comes...it goes...

I'm slowly learning the ropes here. Not important. However, a lot of people here and at another site were wondering if you were all right.

Good to hear that's so. Sorry about the foot.

Geez. You're within a couple miles of that odd, buoy-like marker I've seen pictures of, way south. It's a good thing Wilma went where she did (not that I wish the Cubans ill will).

(Taking a break from the other board, except for once in a great while. They'll tell you.)

I had the remaining piece of glass removed yesterday during a surgical operation plus they had to make the hole bigger to remove the infection around where the glass entered my foot. They say it will be 2 weeks before my foot will be well enough to put full weight down on it and I'm wearing a special shoe that only lets the weight be absorbed by the heel of my foot instead of the front of it. It isn't a good way to try and walk around but it's the only way I can without allot of pain.

To much pain, I'm going to try and rid myself of the feelings of the pain in an old and wise tradition....Oxycodone 25 Mg. :-D

It doesn't knock me out, it only relaxes me and stops the pain completely. I can function OK with that dose but the 50 Mg's and above puts me out.
