Thread: ...MOVIES...

Don't you just hate those movies that you convince yourself to keep watching because your sure its just a slow starter and any minuet now its gonna get better, but then the credits roll, and you think to your self "Wow that's two hours of my life I'll never get back"...


For example... I feel this way about PULP FICTION, i know its a classic and i won't have seen it for absolutely ages, and then one day whilst looking for something in my collection to watch, I'll see it sitting at the back of the book case and think "Oh haven't seen that for a while" so I'll put it on...
And then at the end when the credits start to roll i remember why i haven't seen it for so long, "its boring" I'll never get that time back....

I loved Pulp Fiction, but then I do have a strong sense of the absurd and a love of eccentricity. :-D
If you'd really hated it that much and found it as boring as you say, you would never have forgotten and watched it again - especially all the way through, now would you?

Get rid of it then.

Give it to a charity shop

Sell it on e bay

Well yea you are both right, I'll give you that...
It's not the worst film i ever saw and i feel i should keep hold of it coz it is a cult classic after all, I'm just saying that it doesn't really do it for me and i feel a bit disappointed after, that's all...
Anyway you must have films you feel the same way about and yet other people love them, don't you?

Movies I don't like and most others do?

Face-off. (The movie with some of the worst overacting imaginable! Plus Nicholas Cage sucks (mostly)).

What Dreams May Come (Sickeningly sentimental. Major overkill. (I appreciate sentiment, really, but this is just overdone)).

Bicentennial Man (A horrible raping of the original book by Asimov (They just HAD to have them fall in love? )).

I Robot (Title stolen from the collection of short stories of Asimov, all dealing with Robots and the Three Laws. Writers took "poetic licence" and made a movie not worthy of being associated with Asimov. A pretty Susan Calvin falls in love? Ha! )).


I could go on....

I like "Face Off" but i like "Nick Cage" too...
I quite liked " I Robot" as well...
I don't think i've had any desire to see the others though...

I think the most recent film i got board with really quickly but watched anyway, hoping it would get better was "Broke Back Mountain". It got such good reviews and everyone raved about it so much i thought it should be worth a watch, Oh my god i thought it was never gonna end, it dragged like no film I've ever seen before, i just thank god i sky plussed it and didn't pay to see it in the cinema...

My partner reckons any film that's won an Oscar is usually long and boring...Haha!!
I have to say that's not always the case but fairly often is...
For me anyway....

Thank you. I'm not sure who originally said it because it's been attributed to several different people, but it's the sort of thing I'd like to have thought of first. I like it. :-D

One film I watched right to the end, gruelling hours of boredom, gritting my teeth in the hopes it would get better because most everybody loves it... that old classic with Vivienne Leigh and Clark Gable: "Gone with the Wind" - and he had such a horrible voice, I couldn't stand it. I found the whole thing ghastly in the extreme.

Can't think of any more recent films but I choose carefully and don't just go see a random film, there have been some but my memory has zapped them as too utterly awful to remember.

I thought 'movies' would be a great topic of conversation, everyone has movies thay love or hate or find controversial, a waste of time or boring but I'm starting to wonder if i was wrong...Haha!!
I thought more people would have posted their views on certain movies by now, i know this is a fairly sophisticated sight but their are some good films out their to go along with that eg: Blood Diamond, Hotel Rwanda, Mississippi Burning ect....

That's the sort of thing i was aiming for but it seems you've done a much better job of it that me....
Although yours is films you do like and mine is films you don't really, but that's the only difference, yours seems to have taken off better though....

Also, the type of responses you are likely to get should be quite dissimilar to mine. So I'll pitch in with a few more bad movies a bit later on!

Bad Movie? So many to choose from. "Basket Case", 80s homage to crappy monster movies.

Surprisingly good movie? "8MM" same thing done much better.

Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" - great fun.

Yeah... "The Blair witch project"... it was suposed to be a horror film but it turned out to jus be a horrible film.!!!
