A recent website I completed is for a company that manufactures LED based replacement bulbs. The energy savings from these things could be incredible, not to mention the life span. I think products like this are a good step in trying to save the planet. I'm not trying to advertise for them, I just have an appreciation for the idea. Now if they would only make cars as efficient.

This technology has been around for a while, and the major lightbulb manufacturers (GE etc.) have not put them on the market because they would lose money from both electricity costs and they fact that these things take forever to stop working, if ever. I'm glad someone's finally got the bulbs (LOL!!) to get these on the market.

Which also makes me wonder whether there is other technology we don't know about because major companies are keeping them from being released. For example in the car industry. Hmm :?

Yeah, which pisses me off to NO end, but such is life I guess. Wonder how close to the earth dying we are going to have to be before people open their eyes and DO something about it.

I've switched all the bulbs in my home to screw-in flourescents... how do LED's stack up against these for energy savings?

LEDs are not making enough light, so lamps using them need to have several of them, maybe 10 of them in a line, to make enough light.

Also, they are VERY expensive.. I believe there is already another technology that is even more efficient than LED.
