    Apparently the sheer volume of water, as well as the dam's location near fault lines, is a bad combination. Do you think any of the seismic activity will spread out further than just China?

    You mean people, their homes, their farms etc. These areas naturally flood.

    Yeah. One of the major "selling points" for the 3 Gorges Dam was that it would be able to prevent some of that natural flooding.

    It does stop a the flooding in some areas, but it also creates mud slides in other areas, because the increased stress on the river walls from all that extra water seeps through and causes it to give way.
    Some clocks are only right twice a day, but they are still right when they are right.

    In my opinion we should not modify the environment, since we don't kwow it very well. A big modification may be a benefit, but it may also cause unpredictable damages.

    There's always a price tag that comes along with any type of energy. We just have to pick which one impacts the environment less.
