A newly engineered yeast strain can simultaneously consume two types of sugar from plants to produce ethanol, researchers report.

Though I think bio-diesel perhaps has a brighter future than ethanol for our future transportation it's hard to tell. New strains of yeast that make ethanol from other than parts and types of the plants that we eat is welcome progress.

Very very cool. Thank you for sharing. Cellulosic biomass has been a major obstacle in this work for years. Glad to see progress continuing.
