Hi. I would like to ask about applications of 70 GHz radio in different fields, except cellular comm that already known. Maybe someone can help me

P.S. 70 GHz (E-band) communication system able to work with speed up to 3 Gbit/s on distance about 5 miles (8 km).

Hi Alex. I know very little about this. I live pretty far in the country and such high frequencies probably only cover quite short distances. The speed should be awesome I think, as the bandwidth is probably pretty wide, so a lot of data should be able to be transmitted so it should be really fast data transmission within limited distances.

I know next to nothing about radio, but I am aware of the basic physics. At 70GHz, the wavelength will be 3 x 10⁸/(7 x 10 ⁰) metres, i.e. about 4mm. At such a short wavelength the ability of the waves to diffract round objects in their path will be very limited, making it almost line-of-sight, I'd have thought.

Also see this Wiki article on the subject of 1-10mm radio: Extremely high frequency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It doesn't sound very practical to me, I must admit.

I can agree with this. It could be really fast, in data transmission, but quite limited in distance.
