Hi everyone I want to know the difference between DCS and SCADA. From what I have read on the internet i can only understand one difference that is DCS is used as a local controlling system while SCADA can be used on a large scale. And SCADA can communicate with RTUs while DCS can only get the information sent to it by other small systems. Also please tell me if I am wrong in thinking that the RTU in SCADA is kind of a small DCS. I have absolutely no idea about either of the controlling systems. Thanks in advance

Most of what you guessed is correct. The terms are loosely defined, not strict. So different people may have different ideas what they mean.
