Before going any farther you should add up all the power you are likely to use at one time.
How about stoves, fridges, clocks, computers, washing machines and water heaters?
At least then you have an idea about how much power the inverter needs to deliver.
You want an inverter to deliver the voltage that your appliances are designed to run on. As far as wattage (power ) you need, it depends on what all appliances you want to work at the same time. What is your DC power source, and how is it to be recharged?
Best? The Outback FX series, hands down.
Choose voltage based on desired power. Up to about 1000 watts? 12 volts is OK. Above 2000 watts? 24 volts is going to be a better call. Above 3000-4000 watts? 48 volts.
Choose features based on what you want to do with it. Do you want to go solar and feed excess power back to the grid? Then a hybrid inverter will do that. Just plain off-grid usage? A standard inverter will do that for you. Off-grid with solar charging? Standard grid again. Off-grid with generator charging? You probably want an inverter/charger (like the Outback)
