    Hi,

    Random thoughts:

I'm wondering if there is a way to make a DIY solar panel for powering a ~3-5w USB device, which is smaller in sun-facing footprint than the following, as well as cheaper:

5V/3W USB Solar Charge DIY (Iphone Ipad) - USD $ 74.99

My thinking is that I just need to find more efficient cells for cheap. I'd like to see the sun-facing size at something like 5" x 9".

I saw the Kickstarter solette factory thing. I wonder how efficient those cells are, and if I could find someone selling them for cheap.

I've read that some solar cells contain cadmium, which I'd love to avoid.

    Thanks!

    -Joshua
