Im doing a research assesment in my physics class about electricity in communities. My first question is:
How have the main sources of domestic energy changed over time and how has this impacted society?
Im having troubles finding reliable information for this so does anyone know where i can find information on this?

by domestic would you mean that we had already found a way to feed ourselves and start to make things powered in the 'outside' environment? Also, the title of your question does not specify electricity as per your opening sentence...can you clear this issue up?

I think it could be difficult to answer either way as there could be lots of grey areas, shall we say fire is the first?

One trick for electric power, long before anyone heard of wind turbines, was a method of connecting ordinary farm windmills to car batteries. I don't know whether this was just an Australian farmers' trick but it was quite sensible. Several of our farm neighbours back in the early fifties had these arrangements, they called them "wind-lights".

Powerlines hadn't made it even into the country quite close to the city, so kerosene fridges and oil or kerosene lamps were still the usual way of doing things along with the usual woodstoves. But quite a few had connected up their windmills, used for pumping water for stock, to charge car batteries during the day so they could have lighting at night.
