    can a gas be used for conducting current?
    for generating currents..

    A gas can conduct current - think of lightning or neon lights (or fluorescent tubes) for example. When this happens, the atoms become ionized (some electrons are knocked of atoms) which is what allows it to conduct. In this state it is called a plasma.

    Generate electricity? Can't think of anything ...

    okay i ws wondering if we cud make out electricity from the emissions of gases from vehicles and after sometime using switch,the use of fuel can b switched off and the vehicle operates on electricity...

    @chirayu The gas is an insulator but no one is perfect insulator.Every gas can be breakdown and pass electrical current through them untill it is subjected to its threshold pottential.In this way spark is created like you see in thunder.And to run a electical utility vehicle we ne a storage or production of electricity i think gas cannt do that untill high pottential is required.check with MIT forums

    Not really. All the easily available energy has already been extracted by combustion.

    That sounds like some sort of perpetual motion machine (and is therefore impossible).
