the earth is negatively charged and space is positively charged ,measured to earth from the ionosphere there is an electrical difference of 200kv . if you could build a helium ballon big enough and have a light and long enough wire conductor hanging from the ballon positioned in the ionosphere to earth could we use free electricity? granted we would have to rectify from dc to ac and then transform to a lower voltage but it sounds feasable to me. the big question is how much usable current is available . i cant find any research on actual curent estimates only voltage. what do you think?

You can use lightning to gauge the current.

Average Daily Global Lightning Strikes ;Number of lightning everyday globally
How much electricity does a bolt of lightning possess ;1 lightning could power 1x100-watt lightbulb for about 2 month

Lightning is the discharge of atmospheric's static charges...

surely lightning produces more than 134.4 kw per strike i think your calcs are wrong, im not talking about lightning which is always produced in or near storm clouds. there is a constant electrical difference of 200kv when measured from earth to the ionosphere some 90 kilometers distance , all lightning including sprites dont reach that far and of course would be very hard to use lightning bolts their not constant in one place. im talking about tapping a field of constant charge not built up lightning discharge.

lightning can be positive and negative ,positive being up to 10 time more powerfull than negative , youve quoted lower negative estimates , space is positive and earth negative both have a "constant" electrical field irrespective or lower atmospheric weather conditions . the question is ,..given that the electrical potential is 200,000 volts what is the current we could draw ,i dont think its possible to estimate. please dont inform me that "lightning is atmospheric discharge" im not 6 years old, lightning is at much lower level than the ionosphere although sprites reach out towards it there still lower the higher you get the more voltage is available and in the ionosphere its a constant charge ,lightning is only a billionth of a second long and is generated by clouds entirely separate to the earths and spaces electrical "fields"they interact in as much as sprites seem to dicharge towards space and normal lightning discharges to earth . the earth positive, the ionosphere negative and the storm clouds producing both neg. and pos. discharging in between both. earth and space electrical fields are there whether there is lightning or not. please read the original article it very clear what im proposing no mention of lightning cos it doesnt count.

check out nikola tesla he is the finder of ac current his dream was to pump the upper atmosphere with electricity, supposedly they follow leylines around the globe. check more into his research for ways to draw that energy WITHOUT a reallly long wire. hmmmm there might be so much up there might need a cable a foot thick or else it might melt idk good luck on bettering the world im right behind ya lol

    I'm glad you said "supposedly".
    Ley lines don't exist.

Unfortunately Tesla - especially in his later years - was as much a crank as a scientist.

Quite, plus extra points for mentioning Tesla.
