I used both a galvanic battery and a stabilized power source (both are 1.6 voltage) to electrolyze water, and both works great.

My question is: water electrolysis requires a specific electrode potential, but why both of my devices works, even though I have not paid any attention to their potentials vs standard electrode? It may seem stupid, but very confuses me.
