I'm a student at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, and I'm researching EMP protection devices.

I have come across many sources saying many different things about ways to protect devices; however, I am having trouble understanding the effects of EMP and how it's dangerous to electronics.

My understanding is most electronic devices are threatened by EMP through their circuit connection, and the vast lines of electircal wire and cable gather the energy of an EMP and focuses it into the device.

Would surge prtection devices protect against EMP? Both on a resiential and commecial (Panels, Server Cabinets) basis?

Good luck. I think the best you can create would be on the lines of a Faraday Cage.

EMP is an exceptionally strong electrical disturbance (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) that radiates in the air. Because of the power at high frequencies, very little in the lines of electronics are immune. The term "nuclear hardened" comes to mind for electronics designed to resist EMP, but I didn't find many hits.

Anything that can act as a high frequency antenna can be a route for EMP. Even the fine circuit traces of an unconnected integrated circuit can be destroyed just by the high frequency radio wave pulse.

    That's a flat out NO.

If we had a EMP attack, it is likely no computer controlled cars would work. Almost everything controlled by semicondictors could be destroyed. Older cars may still work, and larger things like refrigerators, etc. It is possible an EMP attack can completely destroy our modern civilization.

A way to protect against an EMP could be to redesign the circuits your trying to protect. This would however limit you to high wattage components. This would mean no surface mount and No CMOS. Pretty much anything that's too sensitive would have to be excluded.. Maybe surrounding your circuit in a thick led casing would help too. :P

I have been researching the reports on so-called reported U.F.O interaction with Military missile installations. Theoretical advanced physics projections?

Human kind has a way of reading into technical data avoiding simple elementary physics. REVERSED MAGNETIC CHARGED PARTICLE FUSION TECHNOLOGY.

Charged Positive/negative protons and neutrons existing in fluid space.

Charged particle fusion within a confined reversed magnetic field. (Quantum Polarity)

Quantum polarity particle beam conversion ratio of element 115 to 116 energy displacement (helium neculous) controlled high yield energy displacement flux supportive battery system (Quantum Flow) Quantum conversion of fluid space.

In theory a Gravitational slingshot of a planetary or any fixed magnetic field within fluid space. A reversed magnetic field or pulse generated and absorbed within a positive polarity of charged particles of protons and neutrons.

In theory the energy within the magnetic flux takes space that is constant rate of speed from point A to point B and bends or warps the fabric of fluid space.

Within the guidelines of this technology allows for Controlled frequency E.M.P via satellite transmission or other means of delivery of said weapon or device.

In other words no need for Nukes in Space type Star Wars defense system

I don't know what you have been smoking but I want some.
