I believe he graduated top of his class in physics. I'm not sure about his current work in physics, but, I do enjoy that he's spreading the popularity of science/science-fiction with his scifi-science show.

Yeah, he's the equivalent of a science based televangelist. He functions more as a communicator of science than an engineer of science. Having said that, I prefer Carl Sagan's work on educating the masses. He's in the following shows.... "The Universe" "Through The Wormhole" "Sci-fi Science".

Couldn't agree more. He's the main reason I'm not an incompetent "more-so incompetent? " teenager. I read "Billions and Billions" last year, real eye opener for me.

I wouldn't say to increase their imagination, that's something that takes thousands of hours of dedication to do. His programs seem to be directed mostly towards uneducated/moderately educated American adults, as well as curious teenagers. There's very little to no mathematics in his shows, usually just extended analogies and metaphors "usually mediocre ones at that" to explain the complexities of physics terms. In all honesty, I would recommend sticking to reading for science-based education. If you are hell-bent on learning about the universe with television, I would recommend "Carl Sagan's Cosmos", there is a reason so many people viewed it. If you can't find that, I enjoy watching "The Universe" on history channel.

No. Unless you consider all people kids. He's a PopSci guy.

Even though he never actually said, "Billions and billions."
But then, Arnaz never said, "Lucy! You got some 'splainin' to do!" Bogart never said, "Play it again, Sam." James Cagney never said, "mmm... You Dirty Rat!"
"Holmes" never said, "Elementary, my dear Watson" in any Conan Doyle book.

Sagan did not tiptoe around. He never avoided the confrontational issues, but addressed the scientific aspects. He was very clear about what is unknown, and what we do know. Ever an optimist and adept at inspiration.

Maybe watching the full Cosmos series would help you out, Sohokila.

That would be false, since you have clearly demonstrated that your "knowledge" of physics is effectively non-existent.

I am sure about that now.
Being sure doesn't, in any way, mean that you're correct.

Funny... yes. Hilarious- you laugh while claiming something you have never seen is idiotic.
As a poster, you are a waste of broadband.

Arrogant AND deluded. A "two for" included in a "four for." Do I get a blender, too?

    Who made a joke?
Who made fun of what? No one made fun of Cosmos. It was a recommendation for you to watch an educational series.

You ACT like you understand what others are saying, yet you seem to not understand and spew nothing but derision and contempt.

You truly believe that you are infallible, don't you?

Oh... And speaking of you calling something "idiot"-- Look how much you're posting lately. Since that's your qualifier for what makes someone an idiot and a troll- I guess you're now an idiot and a troll. Welcome.

As psychiatrists often point out, unprovoked mirth is a sign of a mental problem. In a string of consecutive posts, you rambled, and laughed at your own rambling. I recommend seeing a healthcare professional at your earliest opportunity.

Yes, because calling people pathetic is exactly how you demonstrate that they insult you.
And don't try claiming it's purely reactionary... YOU were insulting, derogatory and offensive before anyone else was.

You've posted no meaningful content, yet. No contributions worthy of being called scientific. The only thing you've given is a flippant attitude and you've been shown far more tolerance than insult.

Well...that troll....was interesting. I'm guessing he was suspended for that.

Anyway, I can't really speak on whether or not he's a good scientist as I don't feel qualified to do so.

What I can tell you is that a layperson I enjoy much of what he has to say. He's definitely a public face of science these days. Kind of like Bill Nye was/is, but geared more towards adults. On occasion (none in particular) he has come across as oversimplifying things too much, but overall is the right man for the job. I remember watching something on YouTube where he went around looking into the feasibility of creating a real life light saber as well as what would be needed to do so. Obviously rather unnecessary, but it's the kind of thing that gets people's attention, and I'll admit I was entertained.

He's definitely no fool, and Wikipedia states that "he authored the first papers describing string theory in a field form."

I also recall watching yet another video on YouTube where he discussed his book, "Physics of the Future". I personally found it far too optimistic. Kind of like looking back with rose tinted glasses, only forward lol.
