The Neuroscience for Kids site is pretty outstanding, and accessible:

I recommend anything and everything by V. S. Ramachandran. Google his book Phantoms of the Mind. He also has a book, A Brief Tour of Human Consciousness, which I haven't yet had the pleasure of reading.

Come to think of it, if you Google "Ramachandran Reith Lectures" you should be able to find his four-part series of lectures which cover some of the material in Phantom Limbs. Fascinating to hear his lecture then read the details in his text.

The lecture at Oxford is perhaps the better of them. He takes questions from the audience and among his questioners is David Deutsch, a renowned physicist who has some fascinating multi-verse hypotheses, and Richard Dawkins.

You can also find Ramachandran in the Beyond Belief series, though I forget which year. He's a wonderful speaker and has a great sense of humor.

I have. It's a good read, and not difficult to follow whatsoever.
