I would really like if they did a better job of teaching economics. Maybe devise a course without math for the math illiterate (I know that's giving in, but kids need to be able to get interested in it.)

In any democracy, the most dangerous skill for the voting public to lack is economics.

They start rubber stamping whatever the "smart people" say, and of course the "smart people" are the ones who look and sound smart on the TV.

You can't tell someone to "think for them self" if they lack the education needed to critically analyze the topic in question.

Dywyddyr already gave the best answer, though, in post #37

You may recall I supported some of what you are saying in the thread you started on that topic.

Here, that is off topic. While you may have a bone to pick and it may be valid- introducing it into other topics is discourteous and can be considered spamming.

    I agree.
We should have a schedule laid out and do it non-randomly.

I think the most important thing to teach students is a scientific approach to thinking about subjects. Facts are important too but they change as our knowledge grows. But a good method of researching and attacking problems / questions logically and analytically is the most important thing. And that goes for all the research based subjects in school. It becomes more and more important to since the amount if information just grows and it's very important to be able to judge what is a good source of information and what isn't.

    There isn't a most important.

In my opinion, education should be well rounded, in all subjects, so that students are introduced to many things and not just one or two.

Maybe at a certain age, if the student shows a predisposition to something and a total non interest in another, the subject they are most involved (interested) activity should be increased and the other activity maybe decreased.
