Are charter schools better suited to teach students and acctually getting them to learn better then a public school? I mean besides it being smaller and less students is it really possible for a charter school to produce smarter students then a public school?

I knew things were bad when my imaginary friends stop talking to me.

I am a fan of the idea of public schools, but they must be improved from their current state of state sponsored babysitting. Public school's have the potential to be so much more than private institutions strictly because they are public. I'd have to concede that charter school students do have better test scores, but that's only because charter schools must have results and public schools are generally held to a much smaller standard. But it is my belief that if the public truly wanted real and honest public education that it wouldn't have any rivals. If given the resources and the expectations (and I'm not talking about No Child Left Behind scenarios) public schools could be so much more than they are and would dwarf the charter schools because their public nature would leave them more open.

    Well said, I agree.
A major part of the problem here in Australia is private schools receive more government funding then public schools which in my opinion just makes it welfare for the rich.
I started with nothing and I still have most of it left...
