    where can i find maps showing the rough distribution of minerals and rocks of the earth?
    or maps showing the geological age of rocks in regions?

    mostly mid to the southern african countries (they constantly change names..) nigeria and cameroon.

    Depending on what you want, it might be worth Googling China/gold/bacteria. I think the are involved in state of the art prospecting using bacteria as a signpost. And there are a number of European companies out there doing the same thing - they have great maps.
