I found a rock that is uncharacteristic of those normally seen around my area of NY, and being the type of person with endless curiosity about the simplest of things, I really want to know what sort of rock this is. The vesicles make me think this is an igneous rock, but being that my knowledge of geology does not extend past a high school class from about 10 years ago, I thought I'd ask people who are more knowledgeable than myself, for a more specific answer. For some reason I am not being permitted to post photos via the upload option, or via URL......

I keep receiving a message that says "post denied" no matter how I choose to upload an image. If someone could help me with how to get a photo up, I could then upload the pictures of said rock that I am trying to identify. Thanks

I'm unsure if you have to have "x" number of posts in order to use the upload feature? My suggestion would be to utilize photobucket or some other photo sharing website and then copy and paste the link here. We can then click on the link to view the pic. Oh, and welcome here!

Anti-spam measure. (If you saw the amount of spam that tries to kick the doors down...Whew)
Once you make, I think, "x" (It's only about ten or so) posts, that inhibition is automatically removed by the software.
Wegs made a good suggestion about photobucket.
You could also browse the forums and find topics that might elicit making some posts.
These would be the easiest approach.
Another method would be to PM an admin, but by the time they saw the message and got back to you, you might have made ten posts already.

You can use the first few posts to give some of the details that may help geology buffs out.

Make a few more posts. There is a minimum post number you have to have before you can post links or images. It's only a few but I am not sure what the actual number is. So just comment on a couple of other threads then come back here and try again.
Speaking badly about people after they are gone and jumping on the bash the band wagon must do very well for a low self-esteem.

I repeat "what part of NY state? much of NY was covered in the last glaciation if yo live in that part you can expect ice borne bits o' rock from a thousand miles away.
