So im fairly new to hydrologic models and so have been doing a lot of reading between the different types. Now I have become aware of the main advantages/disadvantages of some of the different model tupes like lumped, semi-distributed and distributed. But how do you way the pros and cons of models that fall into the same type.

Specifically im currently trying looking at the HBV and Urbs models and without going heavily into the math of each I don't know how to figure out which one is better suited for modeling flooding.

Does anyone have any advice or straight out know the answer.

(I also have TopModel, Vflow and Hype on my list of models I want to look at so if anyonw has experience with hydrologic modeling and can give their experiences with any models they've used i'd really appreciate it.)

Hi, don't know to much about it myself but, hopefully this article may prove helpful:

I am surprised that amid all of my searching on the subject of hydrologic models and flooding I have not come across this paper yet. Thanks for the link, i'll give it a read over now.

Managed to find this nice comparison sheet of a few of the models. Sadly Urbs is not among them but its still quite handy. Posted the link in case anyone else might find it useful in the future.

AscendedJust noticed you put up another paper, thank you! Although glancing over it it seems to be a copy of the first paper you posted with only a few sentences changed here and there. Although thats only from my quick glance over it. I'll have a proper look later when I have time.
