    Can you please explain a bit? The equipotential surface should not change, right?

    I have to confess...I was being flippant, as it was not entirely clear to me what you meant in your extremely brief question. What I had in mind was that the sun and moon modify the net gravitational field felt by the water in the seas, so that a line or surface of equal gravitational potential does not simply follow the surface of the Earth. But that's rather obvious, since if it were not true there would be no tides. if you meant something else perhaps you can elaborate a bit.
