Fun story about finding what is probably some odd geological formation.

...., the deep-sea salvage company Ocean Explorer has discovered a large, bizarrely shaped object on the seabed....
...What they found appears to be a disc-shaped object roughly 180-feet in diameter with a rigid tail that extends another 1,200 or so feet....

Amazing. Lenticular clouds are sometimes mistaken for UFOs, so there is a precedent for this sort of shape to occur naturally. Maybe intrusion of magma into sedimentary rock layers which then weather away. Just a guess. Fun story.

That was a fascinating story alright, and it will certainly be interesting to see what comes of it.

Anybody remember the ship from Chriton's book/movie "Sphere"?

Ocean Explorer smells of money grubbing. Read their website, its all about how you should invest in them so as to be part of the great discovery. Not at all a sober scientific attitude. Color me very scepticle.
