    I'll choose not.

When you post a prediction here BEFORE it happens, and it's not a likely event, then I'll believe you and him.

For those of us without access to YouTube (or just a plain aversion to the negative IQ it embodies) could you summarise his prediction:

    Date: ?
    Time: ?
    Epicenter: ?
    Strength: ?

    Thank you.

please dont forget verifiable evidence that the prediction was posted prior to the quake by the time suggested, and the total number of predictions that are posted that do not pan out.

Well, I am kind of hoping the prediction is for the future. But not betting on it.

and the total number of predictions that are posted that do not pan out.
I can't see andersonil providing that sort of data as he/she has clearly been taken in completely (and may not even understand why this is important - "it doesn't matter that he got 10,000 wrong, he got one right!!!11!"). And I am certainly not going to poke around in the cesspool of YouTube to try and find out.

It tends to bug me when people post videos "Predicting" earthquakes and then post it the day of or a few days after.
I would genuinely like to see a video posted the day before or something similar.

But even then, one would have to put it through some checking to make sure the prediction is sufficiently cogent, and has a set timeline so that vague predictions do not get tossed around as "shocking proof of prediction based upon X idea which has no real scientific backing" or whatever buzzwords happen to be in use today.

But then again, there are real and ongoing efforts at Earthquake prediction. The only problem is, due to the complexities of different crustal regions along the multiple Lithospheric plates, there are no set tensional limits that can be universally applied in order to determine a maximum stress value for a set region. I honestly feel this is a limitation that would need to be fully understood and researched before a real and efficient system for earthquake prediction could be utilized with over 50% success.

Also, hi how ya doing names Dan, long time lurker etc... earthquake prediction caught my eye and seemed like a safe logical discussion to join in on... (Unlike the Plate tectonics thread where florian (Who is also apparently on youtube arguing the same thing) is pushing the EE thing ((I'm not gonna discuss it!)) with other people... )

We had as much warning as the people in California had a few years ago, and the people of Haiti, more recently. We live on the edge of the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates and it's a given that those are going to move now and then, and they haven't done so for awhile
