    It seems to be the only way to really grasp the scale of the disaster.

    I've read that some of the countries victimized by the tsunami will not rebuild villages on the direct shoreline. Instead they plan to grow mangrove forests and build fish ponds there, as a buffer between sea and settlement. Seems quite reasonable, although the chance of another tsunami is minimal.

    The images are disturbing and tell us just how much damage Mother Nature can do and literally wipe the Earth clean.

    I just spent some time to look at the images again. Some of those areas I doubt will ever be the same again. The land in many cases is just gone.

    No kidding. THe land was literally stripped clean. I'm sure it will take a long time for the soil in the part to restore itself.
