Why aren't gamma rays used in remote sensing? I know that they are devastating to human cells, but if it is an unmanned aircraft, why can't they be utilized? Is it because of their short wavelength? Can anybody please help me answer this question? Thanks.

It is very difficult to produce gamma ray optics. Also most of what we would like to see at least on the surface of the earth reflects and/or emits on the optical range.

However, using gamma rays to "see" into the earth is an intriguing idea.
