For some reason or another, my mouse pointer will freeze and wont move for a couple of seconds. Im using windows vista and have a saitek gaming mouse (with lights) the lights flash on the mouse and whilst this is happening i cant move the mouse pointer anywhere. Its only just started today and im not too sure whats up. Short of a faulty mouse, any other ideas ?

The hand of time rested on the half-hour mark, and all along that old front line of the English there came a whistling and a crying. The men of the first wave climbed up the parapets, in tumult, darkness, and the presence of death, and having done with all pleasant things, advanced across No Man's Land to begin the Battle of the Somme. - Poet John Masefield.

    How long does it last?

Maybe its a processing problem, I think that it only lasts for from 2-10 seconds. Vista requires a hell of a lot of pulling power, the processor has to be at least a dual core and have 1GB RAM. Maybe you have too much on your system or are running too many applications to which the processor can't actually run the OS Vista system proporley as it simply hasn't enough processing power. When your mouse pointer freezes does the entire screen freeze too?

Lots of things can bring about mouse freezes: Insufficient memory. Bad drivers. Not a good idea, unless you disable the internal pointer.

    is your mouse wireless?
if it is then try to connect and reconnect it to its receiver again and again.
if its wired then try to change the usb port. put it somewhere else.

try a different mouse, if it's the mouse then there is a simple solution. but if it's vista (probably) than who knows....
