I’m reading an article about how computers can differentiate fake human facial expressions from those that are genuine. I’m completely lost though, I don’t understand many of the computer related terminology in this article. Please help.

What is a “realistic training corpus” and how does it help in differentiating facial expressions? How do computers detect expressions on the human face? What is a “spatiotemporal local texture descriptor”? How does it work? What is “CLBP-TOP” (I think it’s a spatiotemporal local texture descriptor)? Is it still the top descriptor that outperforms other descriptors? If not, what are the new and better performing descriptors? What even are descriptors and how do they work?

I’d really appreciate some answers as they would help me comprehend this article. Please and thank you^^

Unfortunately the article seems to be filled with jargon.

I hate when people use that language and try to seem so professional, no one even understands that. Spatiotemporal seems to be something which occurs in space and time. But who knows? Without an article we can't say much.

Computers can only determine what their programming dictates. That said programmers are desperately trying to hide this to make the computer seem well alive so to speak. They aren't might be aware someday, but as of now they are not
