If it is an important account ,have you changed your password?

If it is not an important account have you changed the passwords on those accounts which you do have that are important?

Is your computer protected with anti virus software ? ( kept up to date and with with regular scans)

If you are certain that it was not you (or a friend/relative with access to your computer who logged in to your account ,have you informed the administrator of the website in question?

Did the message ask you to click on an attachment or did it provide a contact? Could be phishing. The person sending the message to you may seem like a friend or be pretending to help......why? So when you do make contact you will freely give them the account information. IOW you haven't been hacked. You're being fooled into giving up information that you think was stolen when actually nothing has happened.
All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

You don't need to tell us but think about what e-mail provider you are using.

I'm not going to tell you what to do but personally, I am all for using an e-mail address provided by home internet carrier. That way, if you have strange activity, you can report it to them and they will do something. I'd use one e-mail for personal contacts and another e-mail purely for signing up to forums etc...
Be careful signing up to any site via a mobile phone. There are patches which can be used to access your mobile phone contacts.
I have stopped using Yahoo and Gmail.

I never open such emails (if I do not know the sender), never click such links, never download such attachments.

I did login the website, and the system displayed a warning message on the screen.
It says that, someone did just login your account in the US.
    But I am in UK.
