    Hi there,

I'm looking around for a new Web Hosting in the chaotic jungle of host providers, if you can recommend one or a reliable review webpage let me know

(I've been burned by a host that offered great features and great service, but that became a fecal mountain of putrefied SHIT after it was sold to another company. Ive seen reviews but Im not sure if the reviews themselves are reliable, any company can open a review site that appears fair with a great review about itself and ok to bad review about others)

Hostgator looks good (but I wonder if theres another host that offers more bang for the buck)

Bluehost looked really good until I found that the great price advertized is only with a 2 year contract, and because Ive been burned anything remotely looking like its not 200% honest and up front (bait and switch) makes me cringe.

I guess you are in the US, for me in the UK I use 1&1, my own upload (FTP) software, (theirs is crap). They just host a site for me and a set of wmail addresses. No problems with them though

They say they are the world's No 1 so here is the non-UK site.

if you design the webpage on your machine first, http://www.1gigfree.com/ lets you just upload them. if you want a domain name, go to www.dot.tk that lets you make a www.yourURLhear.tk that redirects to whatever you want. using those two combined worked for me.

    www.servage.net

Never ever ever seen a better hosting company than this, I've been a customer of theirs for 2 years and in that time the web space offered has increased by a factor of 50, the bandwidth has increased by a factor of 25, they've made it cheaper and their customer help email service has a response time of as fast as under 60 seconds. Fast, reliable hosting. Oh, and the only downtime I've ever experienced was a couple of years ago where a transformer blew somewhere and my site was down for... 3 hours.

If you sign up, try the coupon codes USEN (might work, but might not now they've made it cheaper) and CUST11278 (gives me more disk space and 2 months free hosting, and gives you more disk space as well).

If you can find a better hosting company, I will be truly shocked.

Just to let you know, I was using a "great" hosting company, great service great features, everything, would have recommended it. but it got bought and the service went down the drain like you cannot possibly imagine. And of course, we got an email saying how everything would stay the same ( just like when a company buys another and they always "say" that no one will be layed off and then turn around and layoff a bunch of people the next day)

(servage.net pinged at 125ms on my PC, theres so many host available that I probably will not go for a host that pings above 90ms)

Who were you using? I use MyHost and it's fine. Haven't got any downtime although I don't have much space, but that's because my dad bought one of the cheapest contracts.

    Update

1&1 has been good, that is until recently. I found out that all is fine as long as you dont experience problems but that they are crooked scourdrels handling their billing department like a mob's racketeering operation.

This makes me think of a company I was working for some years back. There was another software company (US) that had a good product, good R&D good service, a big load of revenues from support subscription to existing software. It was making a lot of revenues but was also spending a lot (a thousand employees; RD, support, etc) they happen not to make a lot of profits even if their customer base thought they were no 1. Things must have gone bad or something because it was raided by the company I was working for. We were told solemnly there would be no change. In less than 30 days 999 employees of their employees (all except 1 vp) were sacked. Our company was raking in a fortune in support fees but there was no support(no sales, no RD). No one on our side had a clue how that software worked, and there was no programmers to do anything about it anyway(our programmers working on our software). From the customer's perspective nothing had changed though the company was an empty shell, a name, coasting along on past accomplishments. Customers that had needed support a year before were probably still recomending that company with two tumbs up, and for the majority of clients who happen not to have any problem all was fine on he surface (beneath the surface it was a big fraud imo).
